About the Artist

Picture of Maggie

An Alaskan of over 30 years, Margaret Rye, knows the importance of warmth and comfort year round.  Margaret designs with luxury and elegance in mind.  She graduated from the University of Alaska Anchorage with a degree in Anthropology which started her interest in traditional Alaskan design. She studied for nineteen years, with local award winning fiber artist Colleen White, to acquire the skills to produce fine works of art made from the warm, soft under wool of the Artic Musk Ox.
Margaret lives and works in the quiet Matanuska-Susitna Valley, located approximately 50 miles north of Anchorage, with her husband, son, and 2 daughters.  In her studio she knits, weaves, and dyes custom qiveut garments.
