As an Alaskan of 33 years Margaret Rye knows the importance of warmth and comfort year round. Margaret designs her products with luxury and elegance in mind. She has studied for several years with award winning fiber artist Colleen White to acquire the skills to produce fine works of art made from the warm, soft under wool of the artic musk ox. Margaret graduated from the University of Alaska Anchorage with a degree in Anthropology which started her interest in Alaska native artwork. This eventually lead her to the discovery of qiveut as an art form. Margaret lives and works in the quiet Matanuska-Susitna Valley, located approximately 50 miles north of Anchorage, with her husband and daughter. In her studio she knits, weaves, and sews custom qiveut garments.
